  • Summer Safety Tips

    Hi Cougars!

     

    Through many Zooms that we have visited, we have discovered that most students haven't tried many of our at home challenges. We understand that this is a unique time with many variables to juggle and hectic schedules. If you have struggled to keep up, it's okay and we get it. However, with that being said, your challenge this week is to quite simply pick a challenge from our "Weekly Home Learning P.E. Challenges" list and try it. Anything that catches your eye or sounds fun and interesting to you is fair game, or you can even try a challenge you enjoyed again! 

     

    With the year drawing to a close, we thought we'd offer a few summer safety tips to help keep you as safe and active as possible this summer: 

    • Drink a lot of water to stay hydrated, while limiting sugary beverages. Drinking about half your body weight in ounces is a good guideline for how much water you should be drinking.
    • Remember to apply sun screen if you plan to be in the sun for an extended time (SPF 30 or above is a good guideline)
    • When in wooded areas, try to stay on paths to avoid poison ivy, oak, or sumac. Learn to identify these plants to prevent exposure. 
    • When bike riding, always wear your helmet, ride on the right side of the road, obey all signs and stop lights, and seek permission from a parent before leaving 
    • When swimming, always swim with a buddy or group, know your swimming limitations, and always be aware of how deep the water is. When boating, always wear a life jacket.
    • Have fun and enjoy spending time with your friends and families!
