We are filled with excitement about the 2018-19 year at Sharon Middle School.
The PTO board is already hard at work on plans to enhance our children's experience and support the SMS staff next year.
The first save-the-date for your calendar is October 11, 2018, when Dr. Michael Rich, Director of the Center on Media and Child Health at Boston's Children Hospital, presents to SMS parents and guardians.
Dr. Rich, known as the "mediatrician," has earned a national reputation for using the combination of his creative experience as a filmmaker and as a doctor to explore and advise parents on the powerful positive and negative effects of media on a child's development and well-being.
A big change in 2018-19 is that the SMS PTO will be merging its special programming fund, Knowlege Empowers You (K.E.Y.) into its membership costs. What does this mean to you? Instead of two super big and prolonged asks for donations during the year, there will be just one quick, super-satisfying request for membership. Next year's $40 membership will fund both the PTO in-school educational programs and activities, AND as well, a variety of important programs for parents, guardians, and SMSers, such as Dr. Rich's presentation.
Show your school spirit and sponsor the 2018-19 SMS PTO online now! You may also print the linked membership form and send in cash or check (made out to the SMS PTO) in an envelope marked "SMS PTO Sponsorship" in the SMS office. As a reminder, it's tax deductible and sponsors receive the internal satisfaction of taking an action that will improve the quality of life at SMS for themselves and their children. Sponsors will also receive a free copy of the SMS Directory.
