We will celebrate Read Across America on Monday with a guest reader! Students are invited to dress in costume of a book character.

    Moose Hill:

We had a wonderful field trip to Moose Hill Colonial Life program. We learned about colonial clothing, comminication, homesteading and sheep shearing. Students dressed in colonial garb, had a chance to card and spin wool, visit a colonial era home and use quill pens to write! Thank you to our parent volunteers!

This week we are practicing responding to texts by using textual evidence to support our thesis. We are focusing on character traits, theme and summarizing.

We are using google classroom and google drive for our assignments.

We are comparing characters across texts in narrative non-fiction. This week, we compared the works and lives of Patricia Polacco and Mike Lavallee.

This week we are learning about how states of matter change across the water cycle. We are investigating surface area and evaporation rates!

We are continuing to work with polygons. We have classified them by attriubutes and now will work with finding area and perimeter.

Please review this vocabulary at home. Thank you!

We had another great week in third grade!

This week's geography homework will be due back on October 11th. Students have 2 weeks to complete due to the long weekend and religious holiday.

In science we continued to investigate magnetic fields. We experimented with strength and moving objects. Next we will look at balanced and unbalanced forces and how and how they influence motion.

In math, we practiced 3's and 9's multiplication and division. We worked with multiplication and area, and practiced writing and solving word problems.

In ELA, we continued reading our mentor text, Stone Fox. We worked on making strong predictions, and envisioning and revising our thinking as we read.

We are working with editing tools in writing, and have begun typing practice in class.

We added landforms to our Massachusetts maps, and created and shared identity maps in social studies.

Please let me know if you have any trouble with conference sign up!

Please remember to send snacks that are allergy safe! You can email me or Nurse Cathy with any questions.

    Have a wonderful weekend!
