Hi, my name is Justin Monahan. I've been teaching elementary Physical Education here in Sharon since 2011. I currently teach P.E. at both Cottage Street School (Tuesday and Thursday AM) and East Elementary School (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday PM, and Friday). Previously, I have had experiences teaching P.E. at the elementary level in Mansfield, CT and Thompson, CT. I’ve taught Health Education at the elementary level in Thompson, CT and Melrose, MA, and have taught Health at the high school level in Fall River, MA. Teaching P.E. is something that I’ve always wanted to do and every day I continue to be excited about the opportunity share my passion for sports and physical activity with all of my students.
I am passionate about teaching the things that have really made a difference in my life. I appreciate the opportunity that participating in sports provides in helping people develop positive character traits and good sportsmanship. Growing up in Stafford Springs, Connecticut, and throughout high school, I enjoyed playing a variety of team sports including football, basketball, and baseball. At the college level, I played football as a wide receiver at Framingham State College in Framingham, MA. As I’ve grown older, I now find myself enjoying lifetime activities like hiking, golfing, kayaking, snowboarding, bicycling, and running. I view physical activity as a great way to improve health, reduce stress, and connect with friends and family.
I received a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, CT in May of 2009 where I majored in Physical Education and minored in Health. In May of 2019, I received my Masters Degree in Physical Education from Bridgewater State University. I am certified to teach Physical Education & Health Education at all grade levels in Massachusetts.
