COMMUNITY RESOURCE PERSONS / SPEAKERS
Recognizing that the community has vast and varied resources within the talents of its citizenry, the School Committee encourages the enrichment of curriculum and the widening of educational horizons by inviting persons from outside the school with special knowledge, talents, or an interesting vocation to address students.
These experiences afford students the opportunity to benefit from community viewpoints. Care should be taken in selecting these speakers so that they are individuals who respect diversity in thinking and varying views and who are not attempting to inappropriately influence points of view.
The School Committee shall encourage interested individuals to volunteer their expertise and teachers to utilize such opportunities for enrichment of their programs.
The time given by the resource person and the limitations imposed by the necessity to schedule the regular program of studies must be considered when arranging for speakers. Speakers who will have any unsupervised access to students requires a completed C.O.R.I. Approval for each such visit or program must be given by the building Principal.
