    TUTORING FOR PAY

"Tutoring" means giving private instruction or help to an individual or group for which the teacher receives remuneration other than through the School Committee.

Parents wishing to hire a tutor should be referred to the Central Oce, which maintains a list of qualified tutors. Any potential tutor wishing to be added to the list must submit to and pass a Criminal Oender Records Inquiry (CORI).

The State Ethics Commission has ruled that it is unethical for an employee, paid or not, to tutor a student in any subject if the student is currently being taught a graded subject by that employee.

Tutoring for pay is not to be done in the school building.
