    The School Committee shall employ a Superintendent of Schools and fix his/her compensation and conditions of employment by contract. The Superintendent shall act in accordance with all Massachusetts General Laws and shall perform such other duties, consistent with the law, that the Committee may require.

    The Superintendent shall be the executive officer of the School Committee, and under its general direction, shall be responsible for the administration and supervision of the public schools and for management and supervision of the personnel of the school system. The Superintendent shall provide professional leadership for public education in Sharon, shall assist in keeping the records and accounts of the school district, and shall make such reports as required by law.

    The Superintendent may delegate to other school personnel the exercise of any powers or the discharge of any duties imposed upon the Superintendent by these policies or by the School Committee, except where expressly prohibited. In every instance, however, s/he shall be responsible to the School Committee for the execution of any powers and duties so delegated.
