File: BDA - ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING
At its first regular meeting following the town's annual elections, the School Committee will discuss the election of new officers, including a Chair, a Vice-Chair, and a Secretary, all of whom will hold their respective offices until the next annual election or until a successor is elected. If it is the consensus of the Committee, a vote may also be taken at this meeting.
If the Chair at the previous meeting is no longer a School Committee member, the Vice-Chair will conduct the election of the Chair. If the Vice-Chair at the previous meeting is no longer a School Committee member, the Secretary will conduct the election of the Chair. Nominations for Chair will take place via a motion made by a member. S/he will be installed as Chair if a majority of School Committee members approve the motion.
Upon election, the new Chair will preside over the election of a Vice-Chair and Secretary. The procedure used for their election will be the same as that for electing the Chair.
Any vacancy among the officers occurring between organizational meetings will be filled by a member elected by the School Committee. The election will be conducted as described above.
