SC Emergency Executive Session 01/20/2016
SMS, Administration Conference Room, 75 Mountain Street
POSTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF M.G.L. CHAPTER 39 SECTION 23A AS AMENDED.
Board, Committee, Commission
Notice is given on an emergency basis that the School Committee tonight (January 20, 2016), during its duly noticed and scheduled meeting, will discuss in executive session the status of negotiations between the School Committee's subcommittee for negotiations and the STA's subcommittee for negotiations regarding the FY2016-2017 school calendar.~ This notice is posted on an emergency basis because the School Committee's determination of a school calendar is a time-sensitive and critical matter affecting the entire Sharon School community; because the STA only recently (January 19, 2016) responded to the School Committee's subcommittee with the STA's most recent proposals regarding the FY2016-2017 calendar; and because if the School Committee waited until its next regularly scheduled meeting (January 27, 2016) to determine the FY2016-17 school calendar, the Sharon School community -- students, families, teachers and staff -- would be irreparably harmed by the School Committee's delay in making that final determination.
The meeting will be held in executive session pursuant to, (a) Exception 2 of the Open Meeting Law, relating to the conducting of collective bargaining sessions, and (b) Exception 3, relating to the School Committee's subcommittee's discussion of its negotiating strategy, and because the Chair has determined under Exception 3 that an open discussion of such strategy would have a clear detrimental effect on the subcommittee's bargaining position.
